Fairfield resident Alfred Lenoci, Jr., 55, was fatally struck by the train at approximately 5:15 a.m. on Wednesday morning, a Metro-North spokesperson said, when the 4:37 a.m. train from New Haven, due into Grand Central at 6:34 a.m., fatally struck him west of the station, near Grasmere Avenue in Fairfield.

Lenoci is a well-known real estate developer who served prison time and was convicted in 2001 for his role in the corruption investigation of Bridgeport Mayor Joseph Ganim. Lenoci's father, Alfred Sr., was also convicted in the case.

The fatal strike led to lengthy delays on the New Haven line. Officials said that the incident does not appear to be an accident, and no criminal activity is suspected, though the investigation is ongoing.
